Brady Corporation is primarily involved in manufacturing and marketing of products related to the field of identification materials and solutions. They manufacture products that help in identification and protection of premises, products and people. The Company focuses on manufacturing, precision engineering, printing systems and materials expertise that helps to make it leading supplier in International market to the Maintenance, Repair and Operations (MRO) market and to the Original Equipment Manufacturing (OEM) market.
Brady provides several products to the MRO market like safety and complementary products, identification of facility, people and wire products. It provides to the OEM market products like identification items for PCB (printed circuit boards), labels with bar code and components with die-cut for hard disk drives, medical devices and devices in mobile telecommunications. It has more than 50,000 products which help customers enhance safety, productivity, security and performance. It also includes high-performance signs and labels, safety devices, software and systems related to printing.
The Company was founded in 1914 as W.H. Brady Corporation in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. It was renamed in 1998 as Brady Corporation. However company had started selling products in international market from 1947 and hence has completed almost 60 years. In 1999 company was listed on New York Stock Exchange under the ticker of BRC.
The Company has more than 500,000 customers in electronics, telecommunications, manufacturing, electrical, construction, education, medical and a variety of other industries. Brady is headquartered in Milwaukee and employs more than 8,600 people at operations in around 26 countries. It has approximately 9000 employees all over world. Company has more than 4400 distributor partners in more than 100 countries. Mostly customers of Brady are from Fortune 1000 list.
In 12 April 2007, Brady corporation acquires Sorbent Production Co.,inc. headquartered in Somerset, NJ. In January 2007 Brady Corporations was part of Forbes Magazine’s Platinum 400 list of America’s best big company. The company was named as “100 Best Corporate Citizens” by magazine named Business Ethics.
In 2006 Brady was also recognized as one of Business Week’s 100 Hottest Growth companies demonstrating that companies can be profitable by doing right things.
Brady’s fiscal 2007 net sales rose 34 percent to $1.363 billion compared to $1.018 billion in sales in fiscal 2006. Growth due to Organic means was 4 percent, through acquisitions it was 26 percent and foreign currency translation contributed 4 percent to total sales results. Net income for fiscal 2007 rose 5 percent to $109.4 million compared to $104.2 million in fiscal 2006. Average shares outstanding in fiscal 2007 were 54.7 million versus 50.4 million in fiscal 2006 due to last year’s equity offering. On 18th Sept’07 the Company’s Board of Directors authorized a share buyback program for up to 1 million shares of the Company’s common stock
