Eaton Corporation (Eaton), is a industrial manufacturer that, designs, manufactures, servicing and marketing of electrical components and systems for power distribution, control and quality; fluid power services for aircraft, industrial and mobile equipment; train systems (truck drive) for fuel economy and safety, and air management in automotive engine, solutions for power train and various specialty controls and services for fuel economy, performance and safety. Eaton was formed in 1916, in Ohio. New Jersey Company was incorporated in 1911 and Eaton was incorporated as successor to the company. Eaton has listed on New York Stock Exchange under the ticker “ETN “. Net sales of the company were $12.370 billion in 2006 and increase of 12% as compared to $11.02 billion in 2005. In 2006 Gross profit was $3.32 billion and increase of 8% as compared to 3.08 billion in 2005.
In 2007, Eaton sold out its Mirror Controls Division to Englefield LLP. In October 2007, Eaton acquired all assets of the Babco Electric Group.
In June 2007, Eaton has acquired Pulizzi Engineering. It is a producer of AC (alternate current) power distribution, redundant power, sequencing of AC power, and power management for remote-reboot. In May 2007, the company acquired, SMC Electrical Products, Inc.’s technology and technology related assets. Eaton acquired the fuel components division of Saturn Electronics & Engineering, Inc, in May 2007. In April 2007, Eaton acquired the Aphel Technologies Limited. Eaton has acquired AT Holdings Corporation, in March 2007. It is a parent company of Argo-Tech Corporation. The company has completed the acquisition of remaining 50% shares in Schreder-Hazemeyer, in December 2006. Schreder-Hazemeyer is a Belgium based company that manufactures medium and low voltage electrical switchgear. Eaton acquired processing technology for diesel fuel and related shares of Catalytica Energy Systems Inc., in October 2006.
In September 2006, Eaton acquired Senyuan International Holdings Limited. It is China-based Company that manufactures switchgear components and breakers for vacuum circuit. In September 2006, the company has acquired Ronningen-Petter, which was a business segment of Dover Resources, Inc. Eaton acquired Synflex, which was a business segment of ‘Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics Corporation’, in March 2006. The company acquired the ‘Marina Power Lighting’, in March 2006. It produces electrical products for marine duty.
Electrical
Electrical segment produces medium and low voltage power control and distribution products; various circuit breakers, a range of components and assemblies used in distribution and management of the electricity to utility, industrial, light commercial, OEM (original equipment manufacturing) and residential markets. Eaton also produces various operator interface software and hardware for machines interfacing, and various other products for motor control used in protection and control of distribution systems for electrical power; various AC and DC (direct current) UPS (uninterruptible power systems) and software for power management, services for turnkey integration, remote monitoring, and engineering services for control systems and
electrical power.
The markets of Electrical segment include industrial, residential and non-residential construction, government, institutional, commercial, and customers of telecommunications. Electrical segment operates globally. But the main customers are in North America, Asia/Pacific and Europe.
Fluid Power
Fluid Power segment produces several variety of hose, adapters, couplings, fittings, and various connectors for fluid power; hydraulic pumps, valves, motors, cylinders, , tube connectors, power steering parts, fittings, transmissions and transaxles; hydraulic and electronic controls; electric drives and motors; fluid evaluation and filtration products, and the services; industrial equipment products; brakes and clutches for machines, precision extruded and molded plastic products and components and golf grips. Eaton also produces aerospace systems and products, including electro hydraulic and hydraulic pumps, and several system packages, electromechanical and hydraulic actuators, slat systems and flap, wheel steering products, cockpit controls, load and power management systems, monitoring products, sensors, integrated panels and displays, relays, illuminated displays, valves, pneumatic systems and sealing for commercial aircraft or regional jets, aircraft engines products, cabin de-icing and air systems, fuel systems, fuel systems for airframe, hydraulic systems, electromechanical actuation, power and hydraulic generation, air ducting, and fluid distribution products for hydraulics, air and fuel.
The markets of Fluid Power segment include OEMs and aftermarket customers for construction vehicles, agricultural vehicles, aircraft, and stationary and industrial equipment.
Truck
Truck segment produces light duty, medium and mechanical transmissions for agriculture; medium and heavy duty automated type transmissions; medium and heavy duty clutches, and various products, such as shafts and gears, transfer boxes, rotors, gearshift mechanisms, diagnostic equipment and product for collision warning and commercial vehicles. The markets of Truck segment are OEMs and various aftermarket customers or clients of passenger cars and trucks.
Automotive
Automotive segment produces engine valves, components for valve actuation, components for engine control; valve train and management systems for fuel to increase fuel emissions and economy; superchargers, cylinder heads, turbo compounding; hydrogen and air management machines for fuel products; locking differentials and limited slip; traction modification electrical devices; performance and the racing differentials; gear forgings; control clutches and services for mirror actuators, mobile refrigeration and actuators for power folding, and other transmission controls. Eaton also offers recovery systems for on-board vapor; senders at fuel level; recirculation valves of exhaust gas for engines; turbocharger waste controls, and the intake of control valves.
The markets of Truck segments are OEMs and the aftermarket customers and clients of passenger cars and trucks.
