In May 2006, AMETEK acquired Pittman (PennEngineering Motion Technologies), which is a part of Penn Engineering & Manufacturing Corp. In November 2006, AMETEK acquired Precitech. It manufactures machining systems (ultra-precision) for various markets, such as nanotechnology, defense, ophthalmic and military. AMETEK SAI acquired Southern Aeroparts, Inc. in December 2006. It is a Tulsa, Oklahoma based company that provides maintenance to third-party, overhaul and repair services to aerospace industry.

EIG

EIG consists of various differentiated businesses. This segment applies specialized technology and market focus to manufacture various instruments that used for various testing, calibration and monitoring for the aerospace, industrial, process, and the power markets. It serves various specialized markets such as engine sensors for aerospace, instrument panels for heavy-vehicle, analytical instrumentation, measurement products for various level, pressure gauges and power instruments. The segment also has various joint ventures in Japan, Taiwan and China. EIG has about 40 manufacturing units: 27 in United States, 1 in South America, 11 in Europe, and 1 in Canada. In Mexico, EIG also shares its manufacturing unit with EMG.

About 64% of sales of EIG are coming from various instruments for analytical and process measurement and analysis. This includes moisture, combustion, liquid and oxygen analyzers, spectrometers, and transmitters, emission monitors, and electronic and mechanical pressure sensors, devices for radiation measurement; devices for level measurement; pumping systems, materials testing and force-measurement instrumentation. EIG focused on process industries, such as oil, petrochemical and gas refining, special gas production, power generation, waste and water treatment, distribution of natural gas, and various semiconductor manufacturing.

AMETEK designs, manufactures and services instruments for atomic spectroscopic that used in analyzing various elemental composition in liquids and solids. The company provides these services through SPECTRO (SPECTRO Beteiligungs GmbH), which is a holding company and a subsidiary of SPECTRO Analytical Instruments GmbH & Co. KG. Solartron ISA (acquired by AMETEK) manufactures and designs devices for flow measurement, for gas and oil industry. Precitech (acquired by AMETEK) manufactures and designs ultra-precise, multi-axis and single-point machining systems for diamond turning those applications requires nanometric accuracy.

The Company’s Solartron Group has three businesses that are, Solartron Analytical, Solartron ISA and Solartron Metrology. Solartron Analytical offers measurement instruments for analytics and various softwares for materials characterization. Solartron Metrology produces analog and digital gauging probes, various displacement transducers, and associated instrumentation that used to measure form and size of fabricated or machined parts. The Solartron ISA produces devices for flow measurement, for gas and oil industry.
EMG

The EMG served in various specialized markets such as engineered motors, heat exchangers, fans, blowers, connectors and various other electromechanical systems or products for military and commercial aerospace applications, medical equipment, defense, computers and business machines and various other industrial and power applications. EMG has about 31 manufacturing units, 21 in United States, 3 in United Kingdom, 2 in Italy, 2 in Mexico, 1 in China, 1 in Brazil, 1 in Czech Republic.

The EMG segment businesses include microelectronics and interconnect packaging businesses, systems businesses and technical motors businesses. AMETEK also provide specialized strip, wire, metal powder, and the bonded products. The company manufactures nickel clad and stainless steel alloys, cobalt, stainless steel, and various others alloy powders, electronic wire, metal strip, and metal matrix components used in thermal management. EMGs products utilize in appliance, telecommunications, and automotive, general and marine industrial applications.

EMG is also in specialty motor and floor care markets. EMG offers motor-blowers components for various products in floor care.
