Akon birth name is Aliuane Badara Thiam and was born on April 30, 1973 in St. Louis, Missouri. He is recognized as Akon on the stage. Akon is Occasional rapper, Senegalese-American hip-hopper, R&B singer-songwriter and also record producer. Akon gained fame in 2004 after the release of his single “Locked Up” a song from his debut album “Trouble”. He was nominated with Grammy award for its popular song “Smack That” from his second album “Konvicted”. He is the originator of the Konvict Muzik and the Kon Live distribution. He is popular for his singing hooks and has around 145 guest appearances and 21 Billboard Hot 100 songs belong to him. Akon is the first artist to ever achieve the feat of maintaining both the number one and also the two spots simultaneously twice on the Billboard Hot 100 Charts.
Akon is the son of a Jazz musician Mor Thiam, he was being born and brought up between music and was taught to play many instruments. During his suspected time in jail, he started realizing his music capabilities and earned appreciation for his musical background and when he came out of the jail he started recording his music and started distributing the demo tapes. Akon’s totally different blend of West African style of voice and his hip hop lyrics ultimately caught the ears of the executives at universal records. Akon , all his life has been a Muslim. Since Polygamy was permitted in Islam, he was supposed to have three wives but now he want to have only one. He belongs to Sunni sect of Islam and his parents are Muslim too. He earned many award like American music awards in 2007, Teen choice award in 2007 etc., and many songs were nominated for many awards which show that he earned popularity very soon.
Recently Akon has told the media that his reality show is in the works nowadays and very soon people can watch that. The serial name would be “My brother’s Keeper” and the interesting feature of the reality show is that his two almost identical brothers will move around Atlanta will fool people into the belief that it is in fact Akon.
